Light & Shadow in Kundalini Yoga
Acknowledging the Past While Honoring the Present
The allegations against Yogi Bhajan have undeniably impacted the perception of Kundalini Yoga.
We unequivocally condemn all forms of sexual abuse and misconduct and acknowledge the courage of those who have come forward. At the same time, our documentary Yogis of Ukraine is not about the past—it is about the present-day resilience of Ukrainian women who have found profound healing through Kundalini Yoga.

These women, many of whom have survived missile attacks, bombings, and the loss of their homes, are using this practice as a tool for strength, survival, and joy. Their experiences demonstrate that regardless of where the teachings originated or how they were compiled, Kundalini Yoga is working for them in real, tangible, life-saving ways.
The Interplay of Light and Shadow in Spirituality
Throughout history, great spiritual teachings have often emerged from flawed individuals.
Light and darkness do not exist separately—they travel together. Many people mistakenly believe they must choose between seeing a spiritual figure as either purely enlightened or deeply flawed, when in reality, both truths can exist at once.

A spiritual master can share profound wisdom while still having unresolved shadow work—a reality seen across many spiritual traditions.
The lesson is not to reject the light because of the darkness, but to discern what serves the soul's growth. The women of Ukraine are not following a person; they are following a practice that has empowered them to overcome immense suffering.

An Independent Documentary Centered on Women’s Strength
It is important to clarify that this film was created independently—without financial support or involvement from the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) or other related organizations. Our sole focus has been to honor the lived experiences of these women and share how they have used Kundalini Yoga as a powerful tool for healing in war-torn Ukraine.

Rather than revisiting the past, our film seeks to uplift the present—celebrating the incredible Ukrainian women who have transformed trauma into strength, fear into resilience, and pain into purpose.

We invite you to witness their stories and decide for yourself what is truly important.
